Very slow startup before login prompt

Brand new Dell D600 Latitude's. Win2K Pro SP4 (shipped to
us with SP3). We have the same apps as all other machines
in our building. After the W2K logo and progress bar, the
desktop blue comes up but it's about 2.5-3 minutes before
it begins to apply security settings or show any activity.
Event Viewer shows the Adapter Switching service hung at
startup but it does end up starting. Can't find any
articles on this.
Any suggestions?

I have exactly them same problem.... It is terribly
frustrating is not it. Have you heard of anything that
will fix it yet???

If you have the DNS Server on the same box and the DNS client pointing
to itself you'll get slower boot times. Move the DNS Server to another
server and change the DNS Client Settings
