Very slow response start up time

Recently had windows xp profesional program installed on
HP N5470 Laptop Computer, originaly had windows ME
program on laptop. Using centurytel DSL Modem Provider.
Centurytel said computer not providing speed being hit
with 760 kb thinking windows needs to be upgraded, please
help!

I'm not sure what you are saying here. What do you mean "computer not providing speed being hit
with 760 kb". If you mean that your throughput speed is 760KB\sec on a DSL modem then wow that's fast. I have DSL and a 100Mbps connection and only get 174KB\sec throughput(storage) speeds. That works out to just over 10MB a minute. There are many types of DSL. I have DSL basic. I'm only supposed to get 150Kb\sec according to my internet provider who is 150miles+ away from me. I have optimized things in the registry though so I get the 174KB\sec. Please be a bit more specific about what you want or are trying to do. {:~)
