Very slow login

Ever since installing the lastest critical security
patch, logging in to any profile on my Windows XP
computer takes much longer. It used to be almost
instantaneous. Any advice appreciated.
 
Yes network drive mapped, but pressing escape seems to
make no difference.

This MAY sound real goofy, but it works for me. Go into your SERVICES
and stop the Network Location Awareness (NLA), then disable the
service. Reboot. See if that speeds up your login. It did mine by
about 50% from 1 minute to about 25 to 30 seconds. Let me know if it
worked!
