Very Slow IE

Bob

I have tried everything from a defrag, to clearing the
Temp. internet files to uninstalling all the recent
microsoft patches and my IE is still dogging.

It can take as much as 2 minutes to open a single page.

Does anyone have a solution??

Hi,
I also had this problem when I switched isps,
try clicking the tools menu then internet
options, then going to the connections tab,
click lan settings button and get rid of all
the proxy server stuff, also click settings
button in the connections tab and don't use
a proxy.
Hope it works.

This is a hard one as there are many different possible causes.

If you have not done so recently, run Defrag on your C: drive.

If you have an unused network card, disable it in Device Manager.

Go to Tools | Internet Options Connection and make sure that the box for
"Automatically detect settings" is unchecked for both Dial Up settings and
LAN settings. (Uncheck both even if you do not use one.)

In the same place uncheck "Perform security check before dialing".
