I helped a friend set up her new computer that came with
XP. She wanted a short cut icon on her desk top for Bank
of America. When I do that, I normall open the website,
click on file and send, and send to desktop. I made a
mistake and clicked on the text up above which said BANK
OF AMERICA AND sent to desktop. It appeared in huge out
of focus letters on the desktop. I got a message that it
was illegal and shut down the computer and booted up
again. When it came up, the large letters disappeared
but there is a vertical line. I tried to reset the
desktop to another view but the line is always there. I
can move it manually to the left, but it always comes up
when the computer is re-booted. How can I get rid of it?
Thank you for any help you give.

If you have a current "Restore Point" I would try restoring the system back
to the previous point.
