Open folder on desktop can't be closed

I haven't seen this in person, it's my sister's computer and
she doesn't live near me. The computer is running Windows
XP Media Center 2005. Yesterday her 10 year old daughter
"did something" while playing a game on the computer and now
there's a folder on her desktop that's open all the time and
can't be closed. It's the Unused Desktop Shortcuts folder.
It takes up a couple inches at the top of the desktop and
shows the shortcuts that are in the folder. My sister has
used the Desktop Cleanup Wizard before without any
problems. Right clicking inside the folder does nothing.
Anyone have any idea on how to close this folder?

I would try to following things.

1) Turn off the computer, unplug it from the wall for a minute and then
plug it back in and turn it on.

2) Use System Restore

3) Create a new user account and the problem should be gone. Then delete
the old one once you moved everything over.

One of the three above should fix it.
