Verifying Connection Status to Win2k SFM Share

Hi,

Everytime a Mac tries to connect to a specific server running SFM a window called "Connection Status" comes up and in the window is "Verifying". I have to then wait about 30-40 secs for the window to go away and the Username/Password window to come up.

This only happens when connecting to this particular server, this doesn't happen when connecting to any of our other Win2k servers.

Any help would be much appreciated.

The Mac is unable to connect to the server via TCP/IP and is switching back
to Appletalk. You can open the Chooser and option click the server to
connect immediately via Appletalk and avoid the wait. You may want to have
a look at TCP/IP setting on the Mac and see if they are correct.

Hi, thanks for the reply.

The thing that is odd is that this only happens when the Macs connect to
this particular server. We have other WinNT4 and Win2k servers that are
sharing Mac volumes and they are fine when connecting to.

The other odd thing is that when I click the cancel button in the Connection
Status window and use the MS UAMs, they say that they are using TCP/IP as
the connection method.

That is odd. Perhaps a routing table or name server contains stale
information about your network address for this server. I would use network
monitor on the server to see if the mac client requests are getting to the
server.
