I have a couple programs running on startup that I'm not
sure if I need running. Anyone know a website that has a
list of what all the startup programs do? Thank you.

I have a program named buddy.exe running at startup
because its in C:/Documents and Settings/All Users/Start
Menu/Programs/Startup folder. I cant find anything about
buddy.exe on pacs-portal or 3feetunder. Any idea what this
is?

I just did a Google search for buddy.exe, but it came up with a variety of
results. There's a "study buddy" and one involving bicycles, among others.
Have a look and see if any ring a bell:
http://makeashorterlink.com/?E28A62A76 (I've given you a "shorter link"
link because the original looked a bit unwieldy but I could be wrong. This
is the full link:
http://www.google.ca/search?q=buddy.exe&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en&meta= )

Regards,
Ian.

When in doubt (like now), do the sensible thing and scan with a current
antivirus program (meaning a version not later than 2002 and using
updated virus definitions) and remove spyware with Spybot Search &
Destroy from www.security.kolla.de and Ad-aware from
www.lavasoftusa.com. Stop the buddy.exe from running at startup with
msconfig.

It certainly would not be something essential to running the system.
I'd move it out and see if anything complains. And run a spyware
program like Ad-Aware form www.lavasoftusa.com

A Google for "buddy.exe" indicates this might be part of a
on-line game and it also could be spyware.

Right click on the file and look at the properties to see if
it refers to any program.
