VB.NET Books and Training Material

Boy oh Boy...I thought they said the Recession was ending. We just had some
cut-backs and a couple of us have got to learn some VB.Net quickly!

These forums have ALWAYS been soooooo good to me. Please don't fail me now.

Can anyone suggest some really good books that will help us get up to speed
quickly on VB.Net or any training resources online that might do the trick???

I have searched in here and did see this book suggested and its reviews in
Amazon are pretty impressive. (Programming Microsoft Visual Basic.Net by
Francesco Balena)

http://www.amazon.com/Programming-M...UTF8&coliid=I2SZXS38FDZ5M6&colid=GRMKUIUCGM5K

Any help or guidance will be GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks in advance for your review and help.

Before anyone offers you inappropriate suggestions, please tell us something
about your background? Are you a developer now, using different languages?
What language(s)? Some books and training resources assume you are an
absolute beginner, others assume prior knowledge.

Right now, myself and the other guy that are going to be effected by this,
support our Operations Access Applications. So we're both very familiar with
VBA. We've been exposed to .Net. I have been exposed to ASP.Net but did
nothing more than write a "Hello World" application.

For all intents and purposes, we are new to the .Net world and have no
knowledge of the framework or any of that.

I hope that helps a little bit.

I did see Mike Murach's book out on Amazon for VB.Net and it got pretty
favorable reviews.

Thanks Again and hopeful for another reply.

I started teaching myself from scratch.

I am still teaching myself but my books and references are as follows:

For vb.net By Francesco Balena
http://www.amazon.com/Programming-M...=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1240588317&sr=1-3

For Database stuff: (ado.net) by david Sceppa
http://www.amazon.com/Programming-M...=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1240588221&sr=8-1

I also do the tutorial videos at: http://www.learndevnow.com/

I took a small asp.net course at the local college. That was very helpful.
I also have one more book I bought that was a "WROX" book ( asp.net 3.5 )
that had nice examples ( better than some in my microsoft books) as well.

Cheers'
