Vanishing sounds for logon/logoff

For some reason when I switch user the short logon/logoff sounds don't play.
Sometimes the first one plays but the second one never does. It is set in
Control Panel but whatever I do nothing happens. Any help?

Check the Volume and Sound Schemes of both settings while switching between
users.

All is correct. I even get the problem when returning to my own user.

Still doesn't fix the come back to a user after switch user sound (short one)

Fast user switching does not recover the resources used in the
background by the other user. Reduce the running programs in the first
instance before doing your switch.
