validation problem after download DX

today 22-10 i downloaded the latest direct x program from the msn site, when
after installing i restarted windows wants xp to be activated. i bought the
validation upgrade about three month ago and it worked fine until now, what
happend??. when i want to activate the msn site refers to a activation
program in accesories/systemtools called windows activation, but that doesn't
exist there??
