Validation Issue

B

Briandp

Why is it that after I have downloaded every upgrade in the book, including
Service Pack 3, when I go into the upgrade site, it now requests that I
validate Windows XP and then will not validate and tells me I may have a
counterfiet copy?

Can anyone tell me where to go and how to overcome this. I have been using
this program from some time. Upgraded from Me to XP with this copy of XP,
but it now demands that I spend $99 to get a validation copy or what ever.

What is going on?

You have experienced PROOF that WGA is buggy and only serves to try and
trick users into paying for something they already paid for. It does
*nothing* to stop piracy. If you're tired of this crap, check out Ubuntu
at www.ubuntu.com. No activation, no becoming "genuine" and not only is
it free, it comes with access to over 24,000 free programs.

How can Linux help him with a Windows validation issue? I know you think
that Linux can cure cancer and alleviate bee-bites, but, really, his problem
cannot be solved with Linux.

Your'e right, of course. Only a real dummy would make a recommendation
like that when they know nothing of the required software/hardware
drivers and support. Actually "dummy" wasn't the first word that came
to mind, but ... . Besides, only windows can cure bee-bites; Linux
fails every time.

Alias, you don't know that it's BUGGY as the Op as not stated that they
upgraded with a legal/legit version, their only statement is "using this
program from some time" and "upgraded from me to xp with this copy of
xp".

Typical Leythos: assume the poster is a thief. No wonder everyone thinks
you have your head up MS' ass.
Linux would not help them with this. If their copy is legal/legit then
it's a simple phone call, if it's not legit them Linux would still not
help them.

Yes, it would as they would never have to worry about this crap ever
again. Are you really that dense?

I didn't assume anything, you did. I allow for the possibility that the
OP is legit and also not legit, it was not stated in his post.

Read it again and apologize. The OP gets all his updates from Windows
Updates where you are forced to go through WGA every ****ing time you go
there. It was only the last time the OP went there that the bogus "non
genuine" crap raised its ugly head.
One reason for failed validations after SP3 is having a non-legit
install of XP, you know it.

I know that WGA is buggy and has a lot of false positives and does
nothing to stop piracy. There is no good reason for a paying customer to
have to prove, over and over and over again that he paid for his or her
software and you should know it but your head is too firmly up MS' ass
to even begin to understand that.
But there are so many other problems to worry about, not to mention that
many documents are not compatible between the platforms, and lets not
forget that there are many common hardware items that are not supported
that didn't take into account for.

All mine work, the printer, the scanner, the web cam, the serial port
fax modem, the audio card, the graphics card, the NIC, well, everything
and they were MUCH easier and quicker to install, most installed
automagically. I have yet to see a computer that can't support Ubuntu
and I have installed in on dozens of computers, both desktops and
laptops. In fact, the NIC works better, giving me an Internet speed
that's faster than XP on the same computer, 2 to 6MB faster! I guess
it's because Ubuntu isn't calling MS every ****ing second like Windows
XP and Vista do.

Of course, you trot out the hardware and compatibility straw man like
you always do and ignore the fact that with Ubuntu, you don't have to
put up with the WPA/WGA SCAM.

Strange, in reading it again I don't see where the OP has stated that
the XP install is legit or not, certainly doesn't make it legit just
because it wasn't detected before.

Sure, Leythos, sure. So, what you're confirming is what I wrote: that
WGA works sometimes and sometimes it doesn't.
And that's your OPINION, while it may have a few false positives, my
personal experience with thousands of installs has not shown a single
false positive on any of them. I would say that many false positives are
a result of malware corruption and users making a second install that
later get caught for it.

Again, you assume the worst. Shame on you.
There you go again "ALL MINE" and your scope is very limited.

And dozens that I have installed. Please read for content.
It's been
documented that Cannon provides little support for their printers.

Good reason to replace it with an HP, Epson or another Linux friendly
printer. As you should know, printers are cheap; it's the ink that's
costly. BTW,
The fact remains that you always tell people to switch to Ubuntu and it
will solve their problems, but you never as them what hardware they have
BEFORE you tell them to switch. You never mention document
incompatibility to them.... You never mention loss of gaming for many
popular games.....

My email address is good. All they have to do is ask here or email me.
And you show that you don't care about the OP or Users since you tell
them to install an OS that may not support their existing hardware,
their existing documents without massive changes, etc....

WGA/WPA is insignificant.

Only to those who have their heads up MS' ass like you do and don't mind
proving over and over again that they aren't thieves.

As you can see that does not work. He is a sick obsessive STALKER.
