See my answer in your previous post. That site has a lot of info on how to
'tweak' internet settings, with related cautions, probably your best bet to
optimize speed. Personally, I would shy away from the touted "speed
increase utilities"..........most will prove to be less than advertised and
a few.....downright harmful. I know of no 'magic wand' to increase speed.
Heirloom, old and skeptical
TCP Optimizer helped speed up my broadband connection. Lame Comcast people
couldn't help for diddly.
XP's TCP/IP parameters are not setup for high-speed Internet connections out
of the box. Many network settings are configured for dialup or Ethernet
devices. With today's high-speed Internet connections, this can impede the
performance big time.
Yep! i recommend tcp optimizer too. it has an inbuilt webspeed tester
that u can use to optimize ur connection better and to see if the
optimization really works. wud only recommend to optimize ur broadband
or hispeped t1 t2 connections. wudnt help much in dialup defalt xp
settings are good for dialup. and careful with the tool its only for
advanced users & always backup ur default settings.
Hope this helps...,
