Is it possible to use your computer as a telephone for local calls using a
voice modem? Not VOIP or PC to Phone. Just like a normal telephone. Sort
of like Phone Dialer with voice capabilities.

That would depend on you having a modem with that capability. It will
need a microphone input and a headphone jack. Please review the
documentation for your modem to see if this is supported.

Buying a modem that has voice is the least of my problems. There's probably
several listed on Ebay every day. The software is the challenge. Doing a
Google search brings up nothing but VOIP stuff. The trouble is modems are
just not being used much anymore.

supervoice
bitware

these are 2 that were quite good

any software that came with the modem that allows integrated
voice / fax operations will do (generally) what is wanted

haven't used them for a while and they used to come with
modem - but that was a while back - just had a look and cost
a bit more then I thought, I used to think that bitware was
the best.

No problems

If you or anyone else has voice modem software you could email me, please
let me know. Thanks. Couldn't get through the Bluebottle gateway!
