dialling phone numbers

I can dial phone numbers using the FAX programme to send a fax.
I also have a telephone set attached to the same line as the fax-modem.
Is there a built-in facility in w2000 to dial phone numers from the computer
and then carry on talking through that telephone?

Yes. You can add a character to the dialing string to tell the modem to
remain in command mode. I forget what the character is and I don't feel
like digging out my modem book right now.

In Win31 there was a simple program that just dialed a modem. In
win2000, there is an ap called "dialer", but I didn't look at its
capabilities. Bring it up (start; Run; dialer) and look at the help.
