using USB microphone with powerpoint

Walt

Have a new Logitech USB microphone, but can not get
powerpoint for XP to recognize and use it. I keep
getting an error message that powerpoint is not getting
any sound. Have spent hours with powerpoint program and
with volume control that seems to recognize the mic as
a "WAVE IN" device and not the microphone.

Try clicking on the Volume icon in your system tray. In the window that opens,
go to Options > Properties. In the Properties dialog check "Recording" and then
make sure that Microphone is checked in the list. Close that dialog and you'll
now see a dialog that is labeled "Capture" and the Microphone should be
selected. Let us know if that does the trick for you.
