using upnp

hello all, i am using windows xp with sp2 and all updates ( genuine windows )
and i'm having problams with setting up my upnp device.

i am using an aztech del-600e router and i have already set up my upnp
network to work ( i can see the router in my network places folder an i see
internet gatway icon in network connection - and i use some programs that
successfuly using the upnp settings ) but once in a time whan i open my
network places or refresh the network places window it stucks and i need to
end taks to close this window.

You don't include a lot of detail here, but what you're describing could have
several causes.
1) Malware.
2) Browsing problem.
3) Other.

Let's look at the first possibility, and check for malware.

If we don't identify a malware problem, provide "browstat status" and "ipconfig

I don't have a gateway connection in my network connections or network
properties,
because I thought that's only used with ICS -- router is the gateway, not my
computer.

Then Internet Gateway icon represents another device on the network
such as an ICS host or broadband router, that provides Internet
access.
