I had a continuous reboot problem I couldn't recover
with the XP repair console or the repair option from install
on the XP CD so I had to do a new clean install.

I made a backup of the old XP installation (the whole partition)
and the registry in .reg format.

Can I use the backup to recover my OE mail, addresses &
IE bookmarks, settings ? I also had a few major pieces of software
like Office, Corel, Nero, etc.

How about using the trasfer wizard to migrate apps from the backup
installation to the new one ?

Thanks for any help,

Bill

See "OLEXP: How to Back Up and Recover Outlook Express Data"
Bookmarks for the IE are saved in the C:\DOCUMENTS AND
SETTINGS\{username}\FAVORITES folder. If you still can access the old
folder you can simply copy over the data.
Software has to be reinstalled in the new Windows installation.

Thanks Thorsten.

I'll have to think about if I really want
to have to go through all this again.

An Apple MAC is looking real good right now.

Regards,

Bill
