Hi,
I downloaded microsoft's spyware program and am very happy with it.
However, when it was first installed, I clicked "yes" to the questions about
blocking programs even though I didn't know what I was doing. Now my Norton
Antivirus and windows updated don't automatically update even thought the
functions are set to "on". How do I fix this problem?

This is just a guess because I don't have any blocked events on this
computer, but there is a setting under the "Tools" menu for viewing all
blocked events. Click on that and see if you can "unblock" anything.

You should be able to use System Restore to fix this, Annabelle. Simply
chose a Restore Point predating the changes you made using MWAS.

Microsoft has established separate newsgroups for the Microsoft Windows
AntiSpyware Beta. Please post your query to:

...even though I didn't know what I was doing.

Never a good idea.

Never a good idea.

And neither is using System Restore as the first solution to one's
problem, especially when MS spyware protection can be turned off, or
even uninstalled, if necessary. System Restore should be used as a last
resort, not as a fix-all solution.

From MSAS Help

Restoring a Disabled Item (Blocked Event)

The Blocked Events section contains a list of all applications,
programs, or settings that have been disabled or blocked by a Security
Agent. In the Blocked Events section you can review all the items that
have been either blocked or disabled and decide if you want to
permanently remove the item or reactivate it, restoring it to its
original state before it was blocked.

How to restore a blocked or disabled item:

1. From the main screen, or any of the screens with the toolbar, click
the Security Agents icon or menu option.

2. On the top right of the screen, under the Take me to... section click
Blocked Events.

3. A list of all items that have been either disabled or blocked is
displayed. Select the item you would like to re-enable or unblock and
when the item appears in the right details window click Reactivate Item.
This restores the item to its original state before it was deactivate.

4. To restore multiple items that have been disabled or blocked, select
each item and click Reactivate All Checked Items at the bottom of the
screen.

5. After you reactivate an item you should restart your computer to
ensure that the restored application runs.

Hope this helps.

Right click on the Target icon in your System Tray, and hover over the
System Agents Status (Enabled), the click to Disable Real-time
Protection.

And keep your computer on for the next day and see if you get your
updates.
