Virus or Spyware removal

Hi

I have Spyware Doctor and CalmWin.

I have previosly had Norton Antivirus, I got rid of it. All the popups
asking me to update saying my subscription was ending where getting on my
nerves.

Anyway I installed the programs above and they worked find for 2 mouths but
know there is a virus or spyware program that is proving hard to get rid of.
I have run all the scanes I can think of, spyware and virues are being
detected and removed as normal but then after a second or too every thing is
back to how it was.

There is a icon is the system tray that keeps poping up saying my pc is
infected, I dont know what to do?

Do anyone have any ideas?

Thankyou

Daniel

ClamAV is is just OK as it has a limited virus library. There are much better offerings.

For a free anti virus, AntiVir is an excellent anti virus application that has an excellent
catch rate -- http://www.free-av.com/

Otherwise I strongly suggest purchasing either Kaspersky or NOD32.

To really determine what you have, please be specific about...

Try downloading Defender from the Microsoft site. Install the upgrades.
(Help options -the arrow to the right of the ? - About Windows Defender -
check for upgrades).

Then run a full system scan. I've had good luck with this software. It has
found stuff that other AV programs have missed.

From the sound of it, your problem is more a cockpit problem than
anything else. If you don't keep virus software constantly
updated, it will NOT protect you for very long. Instead of
heeding a valid warning, you chose to switch, then likley never
updated anything, and boom; right back to where you started.

RTFM.

This scanner is an ActiveX applet. After a short delay in which your
browser downloads the control file, you will receive a "Warning
Dialogue" requesting permission for the scanner to run. Click "Yes" and
the applet will pop up and scan. You will be alerted if any spyware is
found. When a spyware or malware is found, you will be alerted and
asked if you want to remove it. If no spyware is found, the scanner
will disappear on its own.
If nothing happens, or if you are using a browser other than Internet
Explorer, click here and choose either "Open" or "Run this program from
its current location". Do not choose "Download".

Perhaps you are in it over your head.

You need to keep your antivirus updated.

There is no such thing as a free lunch.

To get rid of the pop-ups, all you had to do was buy the full version of
Norton.

If you cannot understand this basic concept, perhaps you should hire someone
to help you.
