A pal I'd like to send a Power Point show to doesn't have any Office
components on his XP/Home/SP2 PC. He downloaded the PP Viewer, installed is
and found that trying to run the viewer prompted questions about his Office
Product Code.

Will the viewer run without Office? Any suggestions?

Thanks!

It will.

I wonder if he downloaded the Office free trial version instead of the viewer,
though.
Well, he tells me (and his answers to questions indicate) that he downloaded
the PPVIEWER.EXE.

Any ideas as to a solution?

Thanks!

Try this:
Start>Control Panel>Folder Options>File Types.
Check there to ensure that PPT start with PowerPoint Viewer.

If that doesn't solve it, he could find the file PPTVIEWER.EXE and run it
manually.

If that doesn't works, he should try redownloading from the Microsoft website.

I'll ask him to verify exactly what he's seeing (although he was fairly
certain) And I'll ask him to be certain there isn't other conflicting
software on his machine!

Thanks again!
