Using Outlook 2003 on Two Machines

I have two machines, a desktop (running Windows XP) and a laptop (Windows
Vista). Both are set up to use Outlook 2003 to manage one email account. A
mail message that is read on one machine is still showing up as new email on
the other machine. Is there a way to correct this? I have looked through
the menu items and help, but haven't been able to find anything. Thanks!

Presumably you are using POP mail and leaving a copy on the server? The
marker for read or unread mail is held locally on each machine, NOT on the
mail server, so even if you read an email on one machine, the other has no
way of knowing that it's been read. The only way of getting round this is to
use IMAP....

Or, they can use gmail. Gmail's server tries to be smart and, by default,
won't tell a second POP client that a message is new if the message was
downloaded by a first POP client. Of course, then, the two POP clients won't
contain the same messages.
