Using Microsoft Fax service with all-in-one devices

Within my organisation we are unable to use modems on our network. Instead I
would like to use an all-in-one device (photocopier/scanner/fax machine) as a
method of sending faxes out of the department. The programme I will be using
communicates directly with the windows xp fax service. Therefore, I would
like to know whether it is possible to register my all-in-one device with
windows xp so that I can select it as as a "modem device" within the
microsoft xp fax service. I have checked all the microsoft help pages and it
does make reference to all-in-one devices but does not explain how to
register them as modems.

Help please!!

That depends almost entirely on the manufacturer of the all-in-one device,
and whether or not they wrote drivers that work with XP in this way. If
they did, they will have the information you need to set it up.

If they didn't, you're basically out of luck there. Nobody else is likely
to write drivers for their hardware (it's hard enough getting manufacturers
to update their drivers for different Windows releases).

Note that network faxing is not the same as faxing with a local modem.
There are a lot of timing-critical issues with networks and remote devices
that can prevent successful faxing. Again, you'll have to deal with the
device manufacturer for information on using their hardware this way.
