Using HDTV as monitor - no sound

PLease help

I am new to this computing lark and have no idea what I am doing - I have
an HD Daewoo TV which I am using as my monitor but I have no sound. My
computer is a packard bell and Im using Windows Vista

I have followed the guides and looked in the sound bit in the control panel
but it just gives me the option of Speakers or Realtek Digital Output but it
has nothing next to it as suggested it should have - I also have to admit the
my partner tried to fix it and I feel I shouldnt have let him loose on the
computer as he disabled and reenabled something in the sound section in the
control panel bit and I fear he may have done something.

Is there anyway I can get sound through my TV or do I have to go and buy
speakers - Ihave checked there is nothing showing as mute.

can anyone help me?

You have to buy speakers (about $15) to plug into the speaker jack on
the back of the machine. (small round green jack plug)

.........or run a speaker jack cable to audio input terminals (usually
RCA type plugs) on the tv itself.

Or if the OP has an ATi graphics card with HD in the name, they could use an
HDMI cable to connect the graphics and sound in the same cable. The ATi HD
cards have onboard sound processors.
