Hi.

I have a basic out of the box setup of win2k server, all latest updates etc,
with one machine as a client with xp on it. All i have done is setup active
directory wizard form the configure my server. I selected this is the only
server in my network.

What I want to do is setup office from the network using group policy. I
have followed the microsoft how-to - 304953, but it does not work. I chose
to assign the setup to a machine. I did exactly what it said with the setup
/a and everything. I can run the setup from the xp machine manually from
where i told group policy to get it from. I used a unc path inside my sysvol
area. The user has permission and is in the correct DLG.

When the machine loads or is logged in, nothing happens. Please help!!!

Also, there is no entry in the DNS for the XP machine. Should i put on in
manually? I joined the domain from the xp machine using the network wizard.

Thanks
Dan

Make sure DNS is correct on the particular workstation. it should point to
the Domain Controller. and you should be available to ping your domain name
from the client by FQDN like ping company.local

see that the right gpo is applying to your clients. Use gpresult on XP to
see the GPO list that are plying. Try first publishing software and then
assigning.
