Using existing files in Movie Maker

Hi,

is it possible to import or convert then import quick time movies from a CD
into Movie maker so I can edit them? I'd rather not have to buy the editing
software for quicktime if possible. I can change the file extention to make
the movies run in Windows Media Player but due to incompatibilities I only
get the audio part of the movie.
Any suggestions for this novice would be greatly appreciated.
