Using default acct to send mail

Jim

I have three pop3 mail accts that I use, but no matter which acct I send
from, it puts the e-mail address of the default acct in the outgoing mail. I
have tried deleting and recreating the acct, making another acct the default
and specifically selecting the acct I want to use in the mail message. And
even though is says "Message will be sent using ...." it still puts the
default acct in the message. Does anyone have a fix? I have Outlook 2003
with SP1 and WinXP with SP1.
Thanks

Jim

Make sure that all your accounts are set to authenticate to their outgoing
servers (on the "Outgoing server" tab for the accounts).

I tried that, and I get the same result.

This part of the log indicates that you don't appear to be authenticating to
the adelphia SMTP server. Consequently, Outlook goes on to use the next
account (the gordonferon account), which succeeds. Do you have the proper
username/password specified in the adelphia account's Outgoing Server tab?

The log file is attached. I sent one message to (e-mail address removed) from
(e-mail address removed) The return address says (e-mail address removed).

The problem is that the server at mail.adelphia.net doesn't support any
form of authentication, and since Outlook had already just checked POP3,
the "login to incoming server" form of authentication wouldn't work either.
The logs show the following error message when Outlook tried to send to
their server:

"550 relaying mail to gordonferon.com is not allowed"

You'll have to contact Adelphia to find out just how you're supposed to
send mail through their server. It may be that they have another server
that *does* support authentication.
