Using Compression on CF card and EWF

David D

I am experimenting with compressing the c:\windows folder on a CF card.
Here is what I did and the outcome
I have a 512 MB CF card from Transcend in an 800Mhz Via board.
After FBA, I put the card into another PC where it is the secondary drive
and compress the windows folder and its subfolders.
I then pop it back into my target.
I did a simple test where I time the reboot from clicking restart to the
start of the windows startup music. Compressing the drive actually sped
things up by about 7%. I am attributing this to the speed of the CF card
being slower than a standard IDE drive.

Are there any pitfalls for what I am doing or can anyone suggest an
alternate method?

Hi David,

This should be OK. No pitfalls. Juts don't compress ntldr.
