Lately when I turn on my computer it starts to bootup like
normal, goes to the logon screen where i pick my name from
the list of users. Next Windows will then start to load up
like normal and I will see my chosen desktop background
picture but then a error message will popup on the screen
saying "Userinit Logon Application has encountered
problem and needs to close." I also get other information
such as userinit.exe Appver: 5.1.2600.1106
Modver:5.1.2600.1106 Offset 0000e000 "..information
regarding condition of user init login application when
problem occured" I get the option to send error report to
microsoft or to not send. When I pick either option the
error box will disappear and then nothing will happen. I
will only see my desktop backgound (no icons or anything
else) I have tried many times and get the same results.
I have tried hitting F8 when my computer loads up and have
gone into "safe mode" but the same thing happens. I also
tried to goto command prompt but it never goes
there...only tries to startup windows like normal. I cant
think of any programs that I may have installed lately or
any settings that I may have changed.
Does anybody have any idea on how I can fix this situation
besides just reinstalling Windows XP home edition (which
will be my last resort)??
thanks,
Jason
