Windows XP user32.dll error

operating system: Windows XP

Anit-Virus Software: McAfee

DSL Cable Router

evrytime i try to open my documents, control panel or any other folder an error pops up and says:

Windows Explorer has encountered a problem, we apologize for any inconvenience

and in the error log it says:

AppName: explorer.exe

AppVer: 6.0.2900.5512

ModName: user32.dll

ModVer: 5.1.2600.5512

Offset: 0009de9
