hi
when i reinstalled XP Home and entered my user name I somehow managed to
spell my surname wrong (doh!!! - typed it to quick and didnt check!) whilst i
know its not important its just annoying in theC:\Documents and
Settings\****** folder its the wrong name. Ive tried copying to a new
account in control panel/system/advanced/user profiles but under the account
i want to change the 'copy to' button is not highlighted. Ive tried logging
in as a different administrator but still wont let me...any ideas other than
reinstalling or just ignoring it!!!! thanks

There are two methods to do so. First, is to rename the user profile folder
manually using Windows Explorer (running from a different user account), and
then changing the ProfileImagePath pointer in the registry. Second method is
to make an exact duplicate copy of a profile, using the Copy To option.

Method 1:
----------

Method 2:
----------

Create a new user account from Control Panel User Accounts applet
Logon to that account to initialize the newly created profile and log off
Login as Administrator (built-in Administrator account)
Open Control Panel System applet
Click the Advanced tab
Click Settings under User Profiles
Select a profile to copy from and choose "Copy To"
Complete the process.

Method 3:
----------
If you don't mind losing the customizations made in the current profile,
follow this method:

(This method does not retain the user settings)
