can't rename user profile

my existing limited user profile is named 'user'. when i rename it, it seems
fine in folders and stuff; but with every log on, the old name 'user' comes
back. please help, this is really annoying.
i used to have a single profile (naturally an admin account); its name by
default was also 'user'. i had the same problem and thought creating a user
profile would help; but it didn't. admin logs on and off just fine, but every
time i log off and back on the limited user profile, the name changes back to
'user'..?

Don't bother trying to rename profiles. Just create one with the name
you want to use.

thanks bob, but that's no good, either. whenever i log off from an entirely
different account, 'user' reappears on the welcome screen. and when i log on,
it has the same preferences with my other account.. one more thing; there is
a hidden administrator account. you don't see it anywhere, but you can log
on. i really don't get what's going on with my accounts. i wanna keep it
simple and have 1 admin and 1 limited with my name on it and it won't do! any
other suggestions?
