User name and password when try to publish

When I try to publishmy web site, I get a box that comes up that says I need
to enter a user name, and password. Where do I go to either set this, or
change it, or get rid of not needing a password to publish? I am the only
one who uses this program, and I am desparately trying to get my business web
site published.

I went to the help section on the program, and it says to go to security, or
something like that under the Tool button, but there is no such thing under
the tool button. I would really like to get this up this weekend, and all I
need to do is get this password problem solved. I have published my website
in the past, and made changes and published just fine without the need for a
passwork. I would really like to get rid of that problem. Any assistance
would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

You "Must" have a user name and password set for your site or anyone would be able to open the site and edit it.

If your site is not accepting the user name and password your have used in the past, have your host restore / reinstall
the FrontPage extensions and then make sure you publish using the http:// address

Steve: Thanks for the prompt reply, but the problem is I do not remember the
user name or password, and need to reset it. I am the administrator, etc.
and cannot figure out how to get into the program to reset the user name and
password. How do I do get into the program to reset the username and
password?

Thanks

You need to use the username and password supplied to you by the
administrator of your "Host Site". This is the company you are paying
(maybe) to have your web address registered for use on the Internet

You can't reset your logon details through Frontpage; you must do this
through your host - since you're logging onto their machines (web servers)
to load your web site (which is the reason you need the logon details in the
first place).

Therefore you need to get your host provider to reset the password, or do it
through your web hosting control panel - a web based interface for changing
various options on your hosting account such as
loading/resetting/uninstalling the FP server extensions, or setting up extra
email accounts, or sub-domains or secure folders.

"HELM" is a common control panel used by Windows hosts; "Cpanel" is a common
one used by Linux hosts.

You may also have access to such a control panel - and your host should have
provided these details when you signed up with them. Even with something
like GeoCities or the freebie hosts; they usually send a confirmation of
signup email etc with such details.
