User messed with "Customize Current View" fields, now cannot access Contacts

I have a user that decided to change some things in the "Customize
Current View" settings for his contacts. I believe he removed a
duplicate "Full Name" field from his Contacts view. Now, whenever he
attempts to open, or even highlight the Contacts in his Outlook tree
view, it closes down Outlook with an error box saying "Outlooks has
encountered a problem and needs to close." If he searches for a
specific contact, he _can_ open the contact from the search results
display, so I'm pretty sure all the contacts are still there... just
the view settings are all screwy.

I'm wondering if anyone has had a similar issue and if they know of a
quick fix besides restoring a backup .PST. He has backups from a week
ago, but I'm trying to keep this user from having to go through that.
We've tried running a "Detect and Repair" from the help menu as well,
to no success.

TIA for any help.

Try this

Close Outlook

Select Start | Run

Enter outlook.exe /CleanViews
(note the space between, "outlook.exe" and "/CleanViews")

Select OK

Any better?
