User defined fields lost

Transferred my files to new computer and exported/imported Outlook into my
new computer. My user-defined fields in Tasks (Outlook2000Prof) seems lost.
If I print out the tasks they are still there.
A reply to another such question was that if the file was moved (not
exported) the fields would be still there. Explain so I can avoid this
problem in future.

Exporting copies only the data items. No views, no custom forms, no custom field definitions.

The explanation you received is correct. You need to use the original ..pst file as the default store on the new machine. The article at http://www.slipstick.com/emo/2002/up020605.htm#movetonew2002 is for Outlook 2002 but will give you a general idea. If you still can't get it to work, post back with the information from your Help | About dialog in Outlook as to whether you're workiing in Corporate/Workgroup or Internet Mail Only mode.
