user data missing

The data (my docs, favorites, desktop, etc.) associated with one of the users
on my Win XP seems to have reset (all files gone) about 2 months ago.
Nothing major was lost, so just recovered some of the files from back-up and
continued on. Yesterday, the user profile reverted back to the previous
state of 2 months ago (folder structure, files, settings, etc.). Now, the
new files created over the last few weeks have disappeared, but unfortunately
this time without back-up. Any ideas?

Just another story that confirms just how undependable Microsoft's
"operating system" can be. Sad, isn't it? I can't think of any other REAL
operating system that would mysteriously lose and then later find user
files.
