User Data for Local vs. Domain Login

Is there any way to prevent Windows from creating a new
user folder when attaching to a domain? (The username is
the same, but Windows insists on creating a new folder
with the format username.domain instead of allowing the
user to keep the same folder from the local login.)

Please help.

Please note I am using Windows NT 4.0 for the server and
Windows 2000 for the workstations.

Greetings --

No, nor should there be. Usernames are nothing more than a
convenience for us carbon-based life-forms, and are completely
meaningless to the computer, which uses the SID (Security IDentifier)
to distinguish accounts. By design, each account is assigned a
completely unique SID upon its creation, to distinguish it from other
local and domain accounts. The SID is what is used by both the PC and
the domain to assign security permissions. Naturally, no network
administrator in his right mind would want to try administering
security permissions on a one-to-one basis on each local machine, nor
would he want a local account's security settings to be applied to the
domain's server(s).

Thanks, Bruce. I'll give that a try. I tried copying the
folder as specified, but did NOT leave out the three files
mentioned in the article. I just need to be able to make
sure that the e-mail files copy over and are usable.
