Hi

I just upgraded to Access 2003 from 2000.

Now, when I open the db first, the users will not be able to open theirs.
Nothing happens when they open theirs first. How do I undo this?

Thanks in advance
Richard

Have you checked to make sure you open the database in shared mode?

OTOH, have you split the database application to Front-End and Back-End?
For multi-user application, you should (more like must) split the database
to Front-End and Back-End.

Hi Van

Thanks for replying. The db is in shared mode and the database has been
split. There wasn't any problems before I upgraded therefore I was wondering
if it has to do with something new in Access 2003.

Try open A2K3 software first then open the database in shared mode.

Hi

Please forgive me but I don't understand what you want me to do.

Richard

1. Open the Access software only first (normally Start / Program / Access).
You should have the Access software running on your desktop but no database
is opened by the Access software.

2. Use File / Open ... and navigate to your database. Next to the "Open"
button in the Dialog, there should be a drop-down list to select the Open
mode. I think the normal mode is the database default open mode but check
the drop-down list.

Hi Van

I did that also, the problem still persists.

Thanks again

Richard

Sorry, no more ideas. I searched also the Microsoft Knowledge Base but
cannot find anything related.
