Can't open 2000 DB in Access 2003!

Hi!

We have just recently upgraded some of our clients from Access 2000 to
Access 2003. Now the Access 2003 users can’t open Access 2000 db when they
are logged on as an ordinary User. When an administrator in logged on he can
open the db correctly. What can be the problem?

I now that I can log on as an administrator and convert the db to Access
2003, but then the users that still uses Access 2000 can’t open the db:s.

I really need some help here!

Thanks,
Henrik

Hi Henrik,

Is the database split into two databases: a front-end (FE) .mdb file and a
back-end (BE) .mdb file? If so, does each user have their own copy of the FE
file installed on their local hard drive? You should *only* be attempting to
share the BE file. For more information on splitting, please see the
following links:

Does the database include ULS (User level security, aka Workgroup security)?
If so, just a SWAG (Scientific WAG) that the user's privileges do not allow
for a change in the version number for one of the two references required for
all Access databases:

Microsoft Access {version} Object Library

where {version} = 9.0 for Access 2000 and 11.0 for Access 2003.
