user accounts

WinXP Pro, SP1

When I click on user accounts in control panel, notepad
opens and not the user accounts applet. does anyone know
why and how I can fix this???

Hi,

I ma having the exact same problem opening user accounts in either the
control panel or fromthe start menu. When I try to acces these notepad
also pops up and I get the error message "the filename, directory name,
or volume label syntax is incorrect"

I tried changing passwords using RUN 'control userpasswords' and I get
the same message.

Any advice will help both of us. Please advise if you find something
out, and I will do same for you.

Suggestions for what? What control panel fix didn't work? Please
don't cut out pertinent information!

I imagine your using the Web interface for the groups, which is a bad
idea and creates problems like this. As much as I hate and disdain
it, even I admit the Outlook Express is a better alternative than the
CDO web interface. I guarantee you have it, and it's free. Switch to
it!
