Ever since I've downloaded windows XP updates, I've had to "login" to my
computer.

I am the only user and I'm a bit annoyed at having to do this EVERY time I
turn on my computer. After scouring the control panel and help files I can
change HOW I log in but I can't disable it. Unfortunately all my system
restore points before the windows update were removed as well for some reason
so I can't even revert back to the way it was before.

Any thoughts?

Go to the control panel and there should be a 'user accounts' icon. Click it.
You can then select the user name and click 'remove my password.

Thanks Jeremy,

"Remove my password" was not there to click on. That's probably because I
never set a password to begin with. I think that if I had set one, doing
what you suggest would have let me log in without entering a password each
time, but I'd still have to log in (exactly my original problem haha!)

But someone else gave me a solution so it's fixed now.

Thanks for the suggestions though.

Matt
