User Accounts and Auto Login

After I installed .NET Framework 2, I haven't been able to get my laptop to
automatically log on to my account. I found this site:
[http://windowsxp.mvps.org/Autologon.htm] that explains why. It says how to
get auto login too. But the problem is, it says (in method 1) "Uncheck Users
must enter a user name and password to use this computer option, and click
Ok. Type the user account password and complete the process." When it asks me
to type in a password twice, what password do they need? My computer never
had a password for logging on. So does that mean I have to create one at that
step? Or do I need to just press enter and leave the password fields blank?
Thank you.

When you first try that you'll have the administrator in there by default
normally. Erase that and type in the username of the account you want to
login automatically and then just leave the password fields blank if there
is no password.
