User Accounts "Advanced" tab

Hi
Happy New Year!!!

1. I have read in this newsgroup that help topic about How "To require users
to press CTRL+ALT+DELETE before logging on" is wrong. It's not possible to
open Control Panel>>User Accounts>>Advanced tab (in Windows XP Proffesional),
unless you open in through Start>>Run>>control userpasswords2. Do you know
any official source that can confirm this bug.

2. Even I open through Start>>Run>>control userpasswords2 "Require users to
press Ctrl+Alt+Delete" check box is not active. Do you know any solution to
this?

Thank You

1. It's not a bug so much as it's a poorly written article.

2. First thing you'll need to do is disable the Welcome Screen.

Go to Control Panel -> User Accounts and click on "Change the
way users log on or off".
Remove the check mark from the box next to "Use the Welcome
Screen".
Hit the Apply Options button.
Close User Accounts.

Next, you'll need to disable a local security policy.

Go to Start -> Run and enter gpedit.msc in the Open box.
Click OK.
In the Group Policy Editor navigate to Computer
Configuration -> Windows Settings -> Security Settings -> Local
Policies -> Security Options.
In the right hand pane, right click on "Interactive logon: Do
not require Ctrl + Alt + Del".
Select Disabled.
Click OK.
Close the Group Policy Editor.

Finally, go to Start -> Run and enter the following in the Open
box,

control userpasswords2

Click OK.
On the Users page, make sure to check "Users must enter a user
name and password to use this computer".
Click OK.

Restart your computer to see if you get the desired results.

Good luck
