user account loses profile

I have XP with the family login. My account is an administrator account, my
two children have limited accounts.

When my son Scott logged in recently, he was unable to access his My
Documents account, Outlook did not show his mail, contacts, etc., and other
Office apps came up with the "first time/enter name and initials" look.

I logged in as administrator and noticed that under Documents and Settings
there was now a new folder called TEMP with the standard set of folders
underneath, which it appears that the SCOTT user account is now linked to.

I, as the adminstrator can access files under the Documents and
Settings\SCOTT folders.

How can I reassociate the SCOTT user account with the proper folders and
settings?

It sounds like Scott's user account has become corrupted. Make him a new
one and copy over the data from his old one. I don't suggest copying
the complete account when account corruption is involved.
