User Account Control Sucks

How do you disable UAC so that you don't constantly get the red security
warning shield in the systray? I downloaded and installed AVG virus
software and it will fail to initialize if UAC is running. I don't see that
I need UAC on my personal computer that only I have access to. It is just a
series of annoying pop up warnings anytime I try to do anything outside of
just opening programs or browsing the internet.

Thanks for the article. Maybe I'll turn it back on now that I know how to
configure it.

So will the general public all have to read articles in order to learn how
to use the damn thing! IT STINKS!

With technology comes the responsibility to learn. People who where born in
the mid 1800's, and thus were 50-70, were probably thinking the same thing
you are, in regards to the automobile. Technology can't stay extremely
'easy', for sake of people who refuse to learn. Configuring UAC is very
simple, go to LGP and there are eight config options (with regard to UAC)....
very simple to config.

If you refuse to take the responsibility, then go back to using the
typewriter, they are easy.

You say:
"Technology can't stay extremely 'easy', for sake of people who refuse to
learn."
And I say, Why in the hell not?
Your analogy is the stupidest thing I've ever heard!

Everything evolves, a computer is the interface between the user and the
hardware. There are so many different scenarios that a user can take, that no
programmer will ever try to make a OS or program to utilize all of them
on-the-fly, with no user configuration. The array would be huge, and that
would involve a huge s**t load of code.

Leason #1: never write more code than you have to.

Reason: More code that is written, the more possibility for logical and/or
syntax error. Now the way that debuggers are today, it makes it alot more
easier to find the general location of the error, fix, then recompile. Also
more code antiquates to more redundancy.

No my analogy was spot on. Do you have any idea how the automobile was
viewed by the mid aged people, or those who refused to learn/accept the
automobile at the turn of the 20th century? The automobile, by some was
perplexing, and the notion that it would take off was near preposterous.

It can't get any easier than double-clicking a option and choosing disable.

S**t or get off the pot.

However, as technology advanced, automobiles became easier and easier to use
thus simpler for the masses. And that sir is my point.

I think you are both correct and falling into the trap of extrapolating
from one extreme to the opposite extreme to prove a point.

There will always be new users and there will always be savvy users and
there will always be a rainbow of skills levels between these two extremes.

What is more important, in my opinion, is a service provision that meets
the needs of those users.

'nuff said?

Nevertheless there still are driver licenses and exams. And the belts.
Security never can be 100% easy and intuitive, especially these days :-(

Well BillD you are ignorant because you can't communicate in good English.
UAC is annoying and many other people will also dislike it. If English is a
second language for you then continue practicing because your English sucks.
