I have 3 USB ports.
in Control panel/USB there are 3USB controllers and 1 USB2 Enhanced.

can you explain; and tell me how to identify which of the 3 physical
ports is the Enhanced.

thanx

doesn't work like that... all your ports are enhanced.

It doesn't work that way.

The things you see in Device Manager are "logic blocks".
They aren't ports.

A port either connects to a USB 1.1 logic block or to
a USB 2.0 block, but not to both at the same time.

A USB 1.1 logic block, typically hosts up to two ports.
Since you have three USB 1.1 logic blocks in the BIOS,
that is enough for six USB ports.

A USB 2.0 logic block, typically hosts up to six ports.
Since you have one of those in the Device Manager
(the "Enhanced" entry), you can support up to six ports
at USB2 rates.

Notice that there is a balance in this case, such that
you have enough stuff to support six ports, at either
of the two rates.

+----> Port 1 <------+
USB 1.1 | |
+----> Port 2 <------+
|
+----> Port 3 <------+
USB 1.1 | |
+----> Port 4 <------+
|
+----> Port 5 <------+
USB 1.1 | |
+----> Port 6 <------+
|
+------ USB 2.0 "Enhanced"

A "Port" connects to one
side, or the other, but
not both at once.

In this example, four "logic blocks" in the Device Manager,
support six physical ports.

If you want a tool to look at ports, try something like this.
Each of the dated links on the page, is an archived download
file, originally hosted by Microsoft. Since Microsoft no longer
offers uvcview for download, you can get it on this machine
instead. This server has 5000 TB of storage space, roughly
speaking, and there is an amazing quantity of stuff stored
here. But navigating around this thing, isn't easy.

Not all computers follow the diagram above, but the
above diagram is quite common.

Enhanced means the system is running USB 2.0 .
