Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller Missing

Chuck

All of my USB ports began running very slow. I only noticed this attempting
to back up a large file. Upon investigating I discovered my Standard Enhanced
PCI to USB Host Controller was missing from my Device Manager.

I have run Microsoft Update several times, I have uninstalled all the USB
devices and rebooted to reinstall the USB devices but the missing Host
Controller does not return.

I tried system restore with out any success. I can't reinstall the operating
system because I can't back up my drive with the USB ports running so slow.

What do I do now? I'm not that Tech Savy so you have to explain in simple
step by step terms please.

Don't use Microsoft Update to install
device drives. Go to your PC manufacture's
or motherboard mfg. web site and download
their drivers.

Are you sure? All my USB Controller Drivers are Microsoft. I always install all the Motherboard drivers as soon as
windows is installed and they dont get chaneged from Microsoft Drivers.

Same thing with Com Ports and PCI devices and *almost* everything under System Devices except: AMD Low Level Device
Driver, nForce4 Hyper Transport Bridge and NVIDIA nForce PCI System Management.

Windows Update has been know th screw up the drivers. Either they are
too old or the wrong ones.
