USB wireless network adapters - how well do they work?

Jorge Stephenson

In general how well do they work? What are the
advantages/disadvantages of USB adapters over PCI or PCMCIA adapters?
Anyone have experience with either of the D-Link models DWL-122 and
DWL-120+?

TIA...

The key advantage of a USB adapter is that you do not have to "crack the
case" in order to install it. For some users opening the case and installing
cards is a duanting task. If you feel comfortable doing so, the quality of
the user experience is likely to be superior utilizing a PCI/PCMCIA adapter
as those adapters do not conflict with the polling based USB link layer.
