Can't install USB wireless cards.

Frank Rizzo

Hello,

Running Vista Home Premium (clean install). For whatever reason, I
can't get USB wireless cards to work (i've tried US Robotics USR5422 and
D-link DWL-122 cards). I've installed them with XP drivers and the
install went fine and the Device Manager shows the cards as working.
However, in the Connect to Network window, it says that "Windows cannot
find any networks". I have a half dozen computing devices in the house
from wireless printers to laptops to TiVO and they all see my
(unsecured) wireless network just fine.

What am I missing?

Uninstall any non-working USB devices you've installed.

Then, try installing this update if you haven't already-
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=925528
This article discusses an update that resolves a variety of issues that occur with specific USB
hardware devices and controllers in Windows Vista.

Reboot.

Plug-in a device and see what happens.
