USB Weirdness

Hey all,

We've been having a strange issue regarding our USB devices. A bunch
of our user's USB devices suddenly go dead. On some workstations, when
someone plugs in a USB device, windows will not automatically find the
drivers, we have to manually install them from the c:\windows\inf
folder. This happens regardless of user rights, administrators have
the same issue as normal users. On some computers, when you plug in a
USB device, it will find it just find. This will happen on identical
machines, using the same setup (we ghosted them and imaged to make
sure). Also, we received new Dell PCs right out of the box that had
USB mice and Keyboard, in DOS mode, they work fine, but when you get to
the Windows login screen, both stop functioning. You have to plug in a
PS2 keyboard, logon and manually install the keyboard and mouse. Has
anyone seen anything similar to this? Thanks in advance!

Can't speak to the first question - I'd check the event logs to see what's
going on.

Re the second - with USB keyboards/mice on newish Dell hardware running XP
Pro recently, I noticed I had to wait a minute or so after bootup for them
to work.....then they were seamless.
